The United States Navy Band announces an immediate vacancy for Bass Vocalist in the Sea Chanters Chorus. The live audition is by invitation only, following a preliminary recorded round, and will take place at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. This is an immediate vacancy and is open until filled.

The Sea Chanters is the United States Navy’s official chorus and performs a variety of music including traditional choral music, sea chanteys, patriotic fare, opera, Broadway and contemporary music. Based in Washington, D.C., the Sea Chanters perform for the President, Vice President and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries. In addition to national tours and concerts in the Washington area, the Sea Chanters can frequently be found at the center of our most important national events, at the White House and U.S. Capitol, as well as at NFL and other professional sporting events.

Successful candidates for the Bass Vocalist vacancy must demonstrate:
• Strong stage presence and solo technique in a variety of styles.
• Excellent choral technique, ensemble sensitivity and advanced sight-reading ability.

Starting salary for a new member of the U.S. Navy Band is $66,900-$74,208 plus 30 days paid leave annually and full benefits for members and their dependents. Members may also be eligible for the Student Loan Repayment Program (LRP) which pays up to $65,000 toward student loan debt. Those selected for positions in the U.S. Navy Band are advanced to the paygrade of E-6 (Musician First Class) following recruit training, under a contract for permanent assignment to the U.S. Navy Band, Washington, D.C.

All applicants must be aged 18 to 39 and otherwise qualified for service in the U.S. Navy. Please note that the Navy has strict requirements with regard to medical readiness and physical appearance. The Navy permits visible tattoos; however, scalp, face, and ear tattoos are prohibited, as are any tattoos that are offensive, racist, extremist, or sexist.

Per official Navy guidance, all applicants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination is required in order to enter the audition site.
